Asad Questions Union Govt Going Soft on VanDyke
Hyderabad MP described the BJP-led NDA government as a ‘weak government’ and asked as to why no UAPA charges have been framed, when the FIR mentions it.
Hyderabad: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi questioned the Union government for allegedly succumbing to American pressure after the NIA omitted terror charges under the UAPA against an American citizen, Matthew VanDyke, and six other Ukrainian nationals.
Responding to news that NIA has dropped terror charges against the Matthew Van Dyke purportedly under foreign pressure, Asaduddin stated that this was a sign of a “dimaghi Savarkar — servile abroad and haughty at home”.
Hyderabad MP described the BJP-led NDA government as a ‘weak government’ and asked as to why no UAPA charges have been framed, when the FIR mentions it. “Why has Narendra Modi succumbed to American pressure and dropped anti-terror UAPA charges in this case? The FIR still mentions UAPA, but in order to facilitate a smooth exit, no UAPA charges were framed. Only charges under Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025 remain,” he stated in a post on X.
“Apparently, a foreign government can pressurise Modi into dropping terror charges. But thousands of people face false charges and remain in jail for years. Maybe if Stan Swamy was an American citizen, he would still been alive,” he added.
