Army Medical Services DG Visits Key Medical Facilities In Hyderabad
Army Director-General Medical Services visited the hospital to assess infrastructure, medical capabilities, and recent advancements in healthcare delivery

Hyderabad: Lt Gen Sadhna S Nair, Director-General Medical Services (DGMS) (Army) visited Military Hospital Secunderabad here on Thursday. The General Officer was received by Brigadier Vishal Vir Sharma, Commandant, and briefed on the hospital’s clinical care facilities, operational preparedness, functional challenges, and its pivotal role as one of the busiest healthcare facilities in Dakshin Bharat Area.
She undertook a comprehensive visit to key departments within the hospital to assess infrastructure, medical capabilities, and recent advancements in healthcare delivery. Her visit began at the state-of-the-art cath lab, where she inspected the advanced cardiac intervention setup.
She was briefed on the range of procedures being performed and appreciated the team’s preparedness in handling high-risk cardiac emergencies. She lauded the adherence to clinical protocols and the high standards maintained in emergency cardiac care.
At the MRI centre, she reviewed the upgraded imaging capabilities, including the incorporation of high-resolution MRI systems that have enhanced diagnostic accuracy across multiple medical and surgical specialties.
The upgrades have not only improved the speed and clarity of imaging but also strengthened the hospital’s ability to support complex diagnoses.
During her tour of the Birthing Centre, the General Officer interacted with clinical staff and reviewed recent initiatives undertaken to enhance maternal and neonatal care. She noted the integration of patient-friendly facilities, improved monitoring systems, and the availability of skilled obstetric teams round the clock.
The patient-centric upgrades, including better postnatal support and neonatal intensive care, were commended for contributing to improved maternal and child health outcomes. Lt Gen Nair also visited the Laboratory Services, where she was briefed on the implementation of the Laboratory Information System (LIS), which has been recently installed. She observed how the automation of lab processes had reduced turnaround times, minimized human error, and enhanced overall diagnostic efficiency.
She appreciated the seamless integration of LIS with clinical departments, which supports better clinical decision-making and patient care. Throughout the visit, she engaged with medical and support staff, taking keen interest in their roles, challenges, and suggestions for further improvement.
Subsequently, the General Officer visited the 454 Field Hospital, where she was briefed by the CO of 354 Field Hospital and the Officiating CO of 454 Field Hospital on operational medical readiness and deployment of support capabilities during operations.
Sadhna Nair expressed appreciation for the dedication and professionalism of all ranks and encouraged continued focus on operational excellence, innovation, and patient-centric service delivery across AMC establishments.
