Armoor MVI, Janpahad Panchayat Secretary in ACB Net
The ACB recovered the bribe amounts in the two cases.
Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested three persons including Armoor Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) in connection with separate bribe cases booked against them.
Gurram Vivekananda Reddy, a MVI of Armoor in Nizamabad district, and his private driver Nelli Tirupati, a native of Manakondur in Karimnagar, demanded and accepted a bribe amount of Rs.25,000 from the complainant.
The bribe was demanded through Tirupati, who is presently residing in Armoor, for doing an official favour for services rendered by the MVI to the complainant, such as registration of vehicles, renewal of licenses, and issuance of learning licenses etc., which were referred by the complainant. They also assured that the complainant's files would not be kept pending in the future.
By doing so, the MVI performed his public duties dishonestly and improperly, the ACB officials said, adding that the tainted bribe amount of Rs.25,000 was recovered from the possession of Tirupati.
In separate development, the ACB booked a case against Enjamuri Venkaiah, a Panchayat Secretary of Janpahad Village in Suryapet for initially demanding a bribe amount of Rs.20,000 from the complainant. Upon the complainant's request, Venkaiah reduced the bribe amount to Rs.15,000 as a reward for the amount sanctioned to him as first instalment under Indiramma housing scheme and also demanded bribe for processing the next phase instalments.
