Armed Reserve Constable Kills Wife, Dumps Body In Godavari

Differences started developing between Narendra and Bhavani after their child’s death.

Warangal:An Armed Reserve (AR) constable allegedly murdered his wife and dumped her body in the Godavari River in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district.

Constable Narendra went on to lodge a complaint that his wife is missing. But he later surrendered before area police and confessed his crime.

The woman’s body has been recovered near Veleru in Burgampahad mandal on Friday.

Narendra became acquainted with Bhavani, 30, through a social media and networking platform and they married two years ago. They lived at Pragathi Nagar within the limits of Kothagudem III Town police station. The couple had a daughter eight months ago, but the infant died two months later. Differences started developing between Narendra and Bhavani following the child’s death, leading to frequent quarrels.

On November 3, Narendra is reported to have murdered Bhavani and stuffed her body into a gunny bag. He took the body bag to Bhadrachalam and threw it into the Godavari at the 22nd pillar of the river bridge.

Thereafter, Narendra approached the Kothagudem III Town police and lodged a complaint, stating that his wife is missing. However, during the investigation, police established his involvement in the crime. On realising this, the AR constable surrendered and confessed to the murder.

Based on information contained in his confession, police have launched a search operation in Godavari River near Bhadrachalam under the supervision of III Town inspector A. Indrasena Reddy. Boats operators spotted the body near Veleru on outskirts of Burgampahad mandal on Friday. The body has been retrieved and shifted to Bhadrachalam by ambulance.

Further investigations are underway.
