Armed Gang Opens Fire at Travels Manager in Hyderabad After Killing Two Guards in Bidar
Red alert in Hyderabad city

Hyderabad: An armed two-member gang, which had allegedly shot dead two security guards at an ATM kiosk in Bidar, Karnataka, and looted Rs 93 lakh, opened fire at a travels company manager at Afzulgunj here, injuring him in the leg and abdomen on Thursday in their bid to escape.
Police said the gang was trying to board a bus to Raipur and entered into an argument with the manager and opened fire. They then fled towards the Osmania General Hospital.
City police sounded a red alert and deployed to conduct frisking operations in various localities, especially in the southeast, east, central and southwest zones to try and identify the attackers.
Sources said one of the assailants had been detained and IT teams were tracking the other through their GPS locations and CCTV cameras. Special teams from Bidar have reached the city as part of their inquiry.
According to the police, the duo crossed into the state on a bike after the murderous attack in Bidar, and entered the city early on Thursday.
They intended to go to Raipur and headed to a travels office at about 3 pm and asked the manager for tickets. The manager, Mohammed Jahangir, became suspicious with their behaviour, and asked them to wait for a mini-bus to take them to the travel company bus waiting on the outskirts.
Coincidentally, a team of Karnataka police turned up at the travels office at the same time, and asked for tickets to go towards Rapole in a separate case, to serve NBWs.
On noticing the cops showing their ID cards as per procedure, the gang thrust a bundle of notes and tried to force Jahangir to issue them tickets immediately, according to Mohammed Wali, a passenger who was at the spot.
Jahangir refused to take the money and demanded to see their ID cards. At this, a gang member opened two rounds of fire at Jahangir and the duo ran away, Wali said.
The duo was aged between 30 and 35 years and spoke Hindi and carried backpacks. “I saw them getting down from a bike and coming towards the travels office at 3 pm,” Wali said.
Roshan Travels owner Mohammd Mousam said one of the gang members introduced himself as Amit Kumar and asked to book three tickets to Raipur.
“Jahangir grew suspicious on their behaviour as they were wearing hoodies and behaved in suspicious manner. That is why Jahangir asked them to sit inside the office,” Mousam told Deccan Chronicle.
Jahangir suffered heavy bleeding and was under treatment at the ICU of a private hospital, Mausam said.
Following the incident, east zone police formed four special teams including one from the task force to identify gang. The Clues teams collected the empty shells and sent them to the Forensic Science Laboratory for examination. It is reported that the gang used a 9 mm country-made pistol.
A senior east zone police officer said that only one round had been fired, and that Jahangir’s condition was stable.
