Hyderabad: The Prohibition and Excise department on Thursday arrested five persons on charges of possessing brown sugar, MDMA and ganja in separate cases.
In the first case, two persons – Mohammed Noor Akbar and Mohammed Ajith Mohin - brought brown sugar from Malda in West Bengal to Hyderabad. They came to Hyderabad to work as labourers. The duo was caught when they were trying to sell the substance to persons known to them on the main road from Khajaguda to Nanakramguda, according to Shamshabad Excise Inspector Praveen Kumar.
Around 66 grams of brown sugar worth Rs.2.50 lakh and two mobile phones were seized from the possession of the arrested persons.
In a separate case, an architect, G Teja Krishna hailing from Kadapa was caught by the sleuths of the excise department for possessing Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA). The officials are collecting more details about Sandy from Krishna. “We are not sure whether Sandy is a foreign national or local person in Bengaluru,” they said.
