APC chicken market sealed over unhygienic conditions in Hyderabad

Hyderabad:The GHMC sealed the APC Chicken Market, popularly known as Moti Market, in Esamia Bazar, due to violation of hygiene standards and public safety norms. During an inspection, officials discovered appalling conditions in the market, where meat was being stored in buckets and cartons in highly unsanitary ways, and animal blood was seen flowing freely across the premises.

The foul smell from the market was unbearable, and cats and rats were found roaming openly.

GHMC officials described the market as "very unhygienic" and a significant public health hazard. They issued notices to vendors, citing violations of all municipal norms and causing a nuisance to the local community.

The notices also stated that in August, the veterinary officer of the Goshamahal circle visited the market and issued notices after observing similar violations. Despite instructions to clean up being passed from GHMC, the vendors continued to violate the norms.

The vendors were ordered to vacate their stalls immediately. GHMC warned that failure to comply would result in further action, including the possible seizure of goods and cancellation of licences.

Moti Market has long been a busy hub for chicken and meat sales, but its deteriorating condition has raised serious health concerns among residents in the area. But despite the authorities issuing notices to the vendors, parts of the market are still running. Many vendors continue to sell meat from their stalls, with some of them tearing the notices away and continuing their business as usual.
