Another Relationship Under Scanner in Trainee IPS Officer Case
Police are examining evidence suggesting that the accused was allegedly in a close relationship with another woman from Andhra Pradesh.
Hyderabad: Trainee IPS officer Uday Krishna Reddy, who was arrested in connection with the alleged sexual assault case involving a fellow trainee woman IPS officer, has been remanded to judicial custody. The investigation is being supervised by DCP (Women Safety Wing) Lavanyanayak Jadav.
Police are examining evidence suggesting that the accused was allegedly in a close relationship with another woman from Andhra Pradesh. According to sources, the complainant had orally informed investigators that the accused was also involved in another relationship. Police are probing this angle as part of the ongoing investigation.
As part of the probe, police reconstructed the crime scene and conducted searches at Uday Krishna Reddy's room in Ashok Nagar. During the search, they seized a laptop, a mobile phone, a knife, and two handwritten love letters.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Uday Krishna Reddy was allegedly in a relationship with a woman from Andhra Pradesh. The woman, who was married in 2014, separated from her husband in 2023 and has been living with her son since then. During this period, she came into contact with Uday Krishna Reddy, and the two allegedly developed a close friendship. Acting on his suggestion, she moved to Hyderabad, where she initially worked for a private organisation.
In January this year, she reportedly resigned from her job on Uday Krishna Reddy's advice and joined a job at an IAS coaching institute in Ashok Nagar. Police said the accused allegedly proposed a live-in relationship, but the woman declined, stating that her divorce had not yet been legally finalised.
The woman, who resided in Ashok Nagar, later met the trainee IPS officer—the complainant in the present case—in February this year. During their interaction, the complainant allegedly told her that she too had been in a close relationship with Uday Krishna Reddy and claimed that he had physically assaulted her and subjected her to distress through his aggressive and erratic behaviour. Following this conversation, the other woman reportedly distanced herself from the accused.
So far, police have recorded statements from around 20 people as part of the investigation. Investigators have also reportedly gathered evidence supporting the complainant's allegation that the accused forcibly entered her room and snatched her mobile phone. During the investigation, police also learned that several trainees had reportedly faced difficulties due to Uday Krishna Reddy's alleged temper and behaviour during training.
The investigation is ongoing.
