Anime, manga, web toon, cosplaying contests see huge participation

The event saw participants cosplaying characters like Batman, Tanjiro Kamado and Nezuko Kamado from Demon Slayer, 5th Gear Luffy and Sanji from One Piece and several others.

Hyderabad: Tens of artists and cosplayers participated in competitions in anime, manga, web toon and cosplaying here on Saturday.

Winners were awarded with pen tablets, artwork products, merchandise and cash prizes. The winners of the city round will take part in a national round, where the toppers will represent India at Anime Japan in Tokyo.

Anime pilots from the finalists will be dubbed in English, Hindi and Japanese by Gulmohar Media, while winning webtoons will be published globally by Toonsutra.

They were participating in an anime and manga contest organised by the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) at the Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK). The event was hosted by the Media & Entertainment Association of India and co-hosted by the Telangana VFX, Animation and Gaming Association (TVAGA).

The event saw participants cosplaying characters like Batman, Tanjiro Kamado and Nezuko Kamado from Demon Slayer, 5th Gear Luffy and Sanji from One Piece and several others. Artists designed and created new and original works in anime, manga, and webtoons.

Sushil Bhasin, President of MEAI, said “Through WAM, individuals with unique talent in manga, anime and cosplaying out to the world. This is the first step in taking anime and manga to the next step.”
