All Set for Varuna Yagam at Nagarjuna Sagar Today

The yagam, being conducted under the supervision of Yadagirigutta Temple Devasthanam, is aimed at invoking timely and abundant rainfall.

Nalgonda: Arrangements have been completed for the Varuna Yagam to be held at Vijaya Vihar in Nagarjuna Sagar on Monday, with Chief Minister A revanth Reddy scheduled to participate in the Purnahuti.

The yagam, being conducted under the supervision of Yadagirigutta Temple Devasthanam, is aimed at invoking timely and abundant rainfall. The Chief Minister is scheduled to participate in the Purnahuti at 3.40 pm.

Eleven yaga gundams have been set up in the open area behind the Vijaya Vihar building. Around 108 ritwiks and Vedic scholars have arrived in Nagarjuna Sagar to perform the rituals.

The Varuna Yagam will begin at 4 am and conclude with Purnahuti at 3.20 pm. LED screens have been installed at Vijaya Vihar for the public to watch the proceedings. A special enclosure has been arranged for ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs and other elected representatives, while galleries have been set up for the public.

A helipad has been readied at the BC Welfare Hospital premises for the Chief Minister’s arrival by helicopter.

Speaking to the media, collector Chandrasekhar said all arrangements had been completed for the yagam. The Chief Minister would participate in the Purnahuti marking the conclusion of the rituals, he said.

The police have made elaborate security arrangements at Vijaya Vihar in view of the visit of the Chief Minister and other VIPs. Only persons carrying passes issued by the authorities will be allowed inside the venue.

Endowments commissioner M. Hanumantha Rao, Nalgonda Collector B. Chandrasekhar and Superintendent of Police Sharath Chandra Pawar inspected the arrangements.
