All Set For Polling In First Phase Of Grama Panchayat Elections

The collector said 2089 ballot boxes have been made available in the district for the first phase of Panchayat elections. Some 1899 polling officers and 2321 others have been appointed, while seven each distribution centers and reception centers are up.

Nalgonda: Arrangements have been made for the first phase of elections across 172 Grama Panchayats in Khammam district.

In all, 2,41,137 voters would exercise their franchise in the first phase.

Out of 1740 wards, members of 323 wards have been unanimously elected while elections are being held for 1415 wards. The polling would be held from 7am to 1pm and the counting of votes would be held there after 2pm.

Out of the 192 Gram Panchayats in the first phase, surpanches of 20 GPs were unanimously elected. Some 488 candidates are in the fray for the Sarpanch posts of 172 GPs.

Collector Anudeep Durishetty said 36 problematic polling station locations have been identified for the first phase of the Panchayat elections. Webcasting arrangements have been made at 360 critical polling stations, and micro observers appointed at 162 sensitive centres.

all arrangements have been completed for the first phase of Gram Panchayat elections in 14 mandals of two divisions in Nalgonda district.

Election materials were shifted to distribution centres. Webcasting facility was on in problematic polling stations. District collector Ila Tripathi inspected the distribution centers on Tuesday. Along with polling material, the poling staff would reach the polling stations by Wednesday evening.
