Alcohol Found in JNTUH Hostel Room Becomes Hot Topic
Students further demanded that hostel and university rules be enforced uniformly, irrespective of a student’s position or influence.

Hyderabad: The discovery of alcohol bottles and shot glasses in a student’s room during a surprise inspection at the Manjeera Boys Hostel on the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) campus has triggered questions from students over the handling of the case and the conduct of hostel inspections.
According to students, university officials recently carried out inspections at the Kukatpally campus hostel, during which a sizeable quantity of alcohol bottles and shot glasses was allegedly found in the room of a second-year student. The incident has since become a topic of discussion among hostel residents, who alleged that rooms of certain influential student leaders were not checked.
Students further demanded that hostel and university rules be enforced uniformly, irrespective of a student’s position or influence.
“We only want the same rules to apply to everyone. If inspections are conducted, they should be conducted for all rooms without exceptions,” Ramya, a hostel resident said. Another student said transparency was important to maintain trust among residents.
An official representative of JNTUH said the matter was already under examination. Students have urged the university administration to make the findings of the inquiry public.
