Akhilesh Yadav Praises CM Revanth For Declaring Sadar As State Festival

Akhilesh Yadav appreciated Revanth Reddy for giving strong political recognition to the Yadav community in Telangana and said the Chief Minister’s gesture of elevating Sadar to the status of a state festival would be remembered for years: Reports

HYDERABAD: Samajwadi Party president and Uttar Pradesh former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday lauded Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for according state festival status to Sadar, a celebration deeply rooted in the cultural identity of the Yadav community. Akhilesh Yadav, a Lok Sabha member, said the decision had earned Revanth Reddy, a lasting goodwill among Yadavs across the country.

Akhilesh Yadav called on Revanth Reddy at his Jubilee Hills residence soon after arriving in Hyderabad to participate in the ‘Vision India: AI Summit’ scheduled for Saturday. The summit is part of Yadav’s “Vision India” initiative, which aims to shape a “Neo India” grounded in inclusivity, progressive thought, and equitable development regardless of socio-economic background.

During the meeting, Akhilesh Yadav appreciated Revanth Reddy for giving strong political recognition to the Yadav community in Telangana and said the Chief Minister’s gesture of elevating Sadar to the status of a state festival would be remembered for years. He remarked that Revanth Reddy had secured a special place in the hearts of Yadavs.

The Congress government, soon after assuming office in December 2023, formally recognised Sadar Utsav as a state festival and allocated funds for its conduct — a step that, Revanth Reddy noted, had been overlooked by the previous regime. The Chief Minister had made the announcement at the Sadar celebration held in October at the Sri Krishna Sadar Sammelan in NTR Stadium.

Sadar, celebrated annually during Diwali, is a traditional carnival that features elaborately adorned animals, music, and folk performances, reflecting the pastoral traditions and livestock-based livelihoods of the Yadav community.

During Friday’s meeting, Revanth Reddy briefed Akhilesh Yadav on the development and welfare programmes being implemented by the Telangana government and discussed the prevailing political landscape.

Rajya Sabha member M. Anil Kumar Yadav, former MP M. Anjan Kumar Yadav, Ramagundam MLA Raj Thakur, and senior Congress leader C. Rohin Reddy were present at the meeting.
