Nalgonda: The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) on Monday urged the management of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to accord priority to workers of the PVK-5 underground coal mine in opportunities for surface general assistant (SGA) posts without loss of basic pay, grade or seniority.

Addressing the media at Rudrampur in Kothagudem, AITUC Kothagudem unit secretary V Mallikarjuna Rao said the management had cancelled web counselling for surface general assistants scheduled for July 8 following pressure from the union.

He said workers in underground coal mines should be given priority in surface conversion opportunities. He added that PVK-5 underground workers should be accorded first preference in surface conversion without linkage to Manuguru surface general assistants.
