Air India flight makes emergency landing at RGIA
Hyderabad: Regular operations at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) came to a standstill on Saturday morning due to low visibility caused by dense fog. Several flights were forced to divert landings to Bengaluru, Chennai and Vijayawada.
This sudden weather disruption left passengers inconvenienced and stranded as visibility dropped below safe levels for landings.
As per airport authorities, six flights arriving from domestic and international destinations were impacted.
Among those diverted were IndiGo’s flight 6E086 from Dammam that was rerouted to Chennai and flight 6E094 from Riyadh, which was diverted to Bengaluru. Indigo flight 6E5012 from Mumbai was rerouted to Chennai, while Air India’s AI2829 from Delhi and AI2625 from Mumbai were sent to Bengaluru and Vijayawada, respectively. Similarly, QP1438, scheduled to land from Bengaluru, returned to its departure city.
Airport authorities attributed the disruptions to poor visibility caused by dense fog, which persisted for several hours in the morning.
Many passengers expressed frustration over the delays and diversions, with some stranded at the redirected airports awaiting further instructions. Meanwhile, visibility improved later in the day.
