MIM Candidate Registers A Comfortable Win In MLC Poll
Kishan seeks de-recognition of BRS for boycotting MLC elections

Hyderabad: AIMIM candidate Mirza Riyaz Ul Hassan Effendi won the Legislative Council election conducted for the Hyderabad local authorities' constituency, defeating his rival BJP candidate N. Goutham Rao by 38 votes. Out of the 112 electors, 88 cast their vote in the election, with the BRS staying away.
The MIM candidate, who was supported by the Congress, received 63 votes, while the BJP candidate got 25.
Corporators from 15 Assembly constituencies of Hyderabad district, ex officio members who included MPs, MLAs and MLCs who registered their vote in Hyderabad were eligible to vote.
Union minister and BJP Telangana president G. Kishan Reddy filed a complaint with the Chief Election Officer and requested him to de-recognise the BRS for forcing its members to boycott the election. He said BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao had threatened corporators against participating in the election.
The counting process began at 8 am on Friday in the GHMC head office and was completed by 10 am. In the afternoon, Returning Officer Anuraag Jayanti handed the declaration certificate to the winning candidate.
