AIIMS Bibinagar, Veterinary College Mark World Zoonoses Day with Awareness Drives

A separate awareness event was organised at the Amberpet slaughterhouse, to raise awareness among workers who are at high risk of contracting zoonotic diseases due to their close contact with animals and raw meat.

Hyderabad: Students of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential School and Junior College (Girls) in Bibinagar took part in various competitions organised by AIIMS Bibinagar on Monday to mark World Zoonoses Day, the. The programme aimed at educating students about zoonotic diseases, that spread from animals to humans and highlighting the importance of their prevention.

A separate awareness event was organised at the Amberpet slaughterhouse, to raise awareness among workers who are at high risk of contracting zoonotic diseases due to their close contact with animals and raw meat.

A general health check-up camp was organised for the workers and blood samples for medical investigations and disease surveillance. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr Rahul Narang, Professor and head, department of microbiology, AIIMS Bibinagar.

At the College of Veterinary Science, Rajendranagar, a free anti-rabies vaccination programme was organised. Vice Chancellor, Prof. M. Gnana Prakash of PVNR Telangana Veterinary University, advised pet owners and livestock owners to get their animals vaccinated.
