Hyderabad: A workshop aimed at strengthening neonatal resuscitation skills among healthcare professionals was organised at AIIMS Bibinagar on Monday, as part of the National NRP Day celebrations. The basic neonatal resuscitation workshop was conducted by the College of Nursing at AIIMS Bibinagar in collaboration with the National Neonatology Forum India, Indian Academy of Paediatrics, Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India and the Centre.
The sessions covered preparation for birth, routine newborn care, initial resuscitation steps and bag-and-mask ventilation techniques. Participants were trained through simulation-based skill stations and hands-on demonstrations designed to help healthcare workers respond quickly during critical neonatal emergencies. The programme focused on improving life-saving skills required during newborn emergencies and was attended by 55 nurses from hospitals across Telangana.
Doctors said the initiative was part of a nationwide campaign by NNF India to improve newborn survival through large-scale hands-on neonatal resuscitation training programmes. The workshop was coordinated by Dr S.K. Mohanasundari and Dr Era Deepika Dayal. Faculty facilitators included Dr S. Thanigainathan, Dr. Gurrarsh Singh and Dr B.V.P. Divya. Experts stressed that timely and effective neonatal resuscitation plays a key role in reducing newborn mortality and improving survival outcomes during the first few minutes after birth.
