AICC Convenes Key TPCC Coordination Committee Meeting in Delhi Today
The committee has reportedly not held even a single full-fledged meeting in the four months since its formation
Hyderabad: The Congress high command has convened a key meeting of the state party unit’s Coordination committee in Delhi on Wednesday to address the reported gaps between the party organisation and the government. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, C. Damodar Rajanarsimha, D. Sridhar Babu and Danasari ‘Seethakka’ Anasuya, TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and Congress Working Committee (CWC) special invitee Challa Vamshi Chand Reddy are scheduled to attend the meeting.
The Chief Minister, Mahesh Kumar Goud and Natarajan have been in Delhi since Monday, while the five ministers are expected to reach the national capital on Wednesday to participate in the deliberations.
The meeting assumes significance as the issue of coordination between the party and the government reportedly came up during a detailed review of the Telangana Congress and the functioning of the state government conducted by AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal in Delhi on Monday.
The review meeting was attended by Revanth Reddy, Mahesh Kumar Goud and Meenakshi Natarajan. According to party sources, the discussions highlighted certain gaps between the organisation and the government, prompting the high command to decide on immediate corrective measures.
The emergency coordination committee meeting is expected to discuss ways to improve coordination between ministers, legislators and the party organisation and ensure that the government's welfare schemes and development programmes reach the people effectively.
The Congress high command had constituted the coordination committee in March this year following complaints from several MLAs and district party chiefs about inadequate coordination with the government and ministers in implementing and publicising welfare and development initiatives. The committee was intended to serve as a platform to strengthen communication between the party organisation and the government and ensure smooth functioning.
The committee has reportedly not held even a single full-fledged meeting in the four months since its formation. Against this backdrop, the high command has decided to convene the meeting in Delhi in the presence of the Chief Minister and ministers, with the objective of resolving the coordination issues and strengthening the organisational-government relationship.
