A holiday-bound Air India flight to Phuket returned to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport shortly after take-off on Saturday morning due to technical issues, ensuring the safety of 98 passengers and crew members on board. After the landing, the passengers and crew heaved a sigh of relief.
Flight IX110, bound for Phuket from Hyderabad, took off at 6.47 am — nearly 27 minutes behind its scheduled departure time of 6.20 am. Around 10 minutes into the flight, at 6.49 am, the pilot detected a technical issue and promptly turned the aircraft back. It landed safely at 6.57 am, much to the relief of all on board.
Airport authorities at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport confirmed the incident and said all passengers were safe. “The flight returned safely. The issue was reported and is being assessed by technical teams,” an official said. Experts believe the delayed takeoff may have been linked to the technical issue, although there is no official confirmation yet. The flight was originally expected to land in Phuket at 11.45 am. Air India has not issued a statement on the matter at the time of reporting.
