After Losing Two Sisters, Narayanguda Woman Struggles to Save Third Sibling Amid Food Poisoning Probe
Bhagyashree said the family lost her youngest sister and another sibling within two days, while a second sister remains in critical condition.

Hyderabad:As her sister battles fluctuating blood pressure in the intensive care unit at a private hospital in Kacheguda, 25-year-old Bhagyashree, the sole breadwinner of her family, is struggling to cope with the loss of two siblings while facing mounting medical expenses in a suspected food poisoning case in Narayanguda.
Speaking from the hospital, Bhagyashree told Deccan Chronicle that her family had consumed only home-cooked food on June 5, and mangoes brought by a relative. “On Friday, a relative visited our house and brought mangoes. That was the only food item from outside that we consumed. The rest of our meals were home-cooked,” she said.
“By Saturday evening, all of us developed diarrhoea, vomiting and weakness. We are five sisters and our mother. My youngest sister collapsed. Despite being unwell myself, I went out to buy ORS and medicines. When the situation turned serious, we rushed them to the hospital,” Bhagyashree said.
Bhagyashree said the family lost her youngest sister and another sibling within two days, while a second sister remains in critical condition.
“My sisters were students and I am the only earning member, working as a sales executive. My second sister is still in the ICU. The treatment is costing nearly `50,000 a day. I have spent over `1 lakh. There are additional expenses for my sisters' funeral, totalling `5 lakh,” she said.
Bhagyashree added that the family was unaware of treatment options in government hospitals. “My father, a farmer in Karnataka, arranged `2 lakh after selling our house. My mother, who is a heart patient, also fell ill but was discharged and sent to our native place for the last rites of my sisters,” she said.
Bhagyashree lodged two separate complaints with Narayanguda police following the deaths of her sisters, Bhuvaneshwari and Sudha Rani. Based on her complaints, police registered FIRs 203/2026 and 204/2026 under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
In both complaints, she stated that family members developed severe vomiting and diarrhoea after consuming food at home, including mangoes brought by a relative. The family has requested a thorough investigation into the cause of the illness and deaths.
