Advantage Assam 2.0 roadshow held in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Assam education minister Dr Ranoj Pegu said the state had been witnessing great interest from national and international players as they have been finding a new Assam, as the state had transformed in the last couple of years with rapid development in all sectors. Addressing the Advantage Assam 2.0- Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025 here, the minister said Assam had emerged as a leading investment hub and gateway to southeast Asia with better infrastructure, natural resources and a single-window clearance system for investors.

The roadshow was organised by the Assam government in partnership with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci).

Dr Pegu announced the commissioning of a dedicated university for science and technology and another university for new-age technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning, which will soon become operational.

“Assam is on the cusp of rapid industrial growth, and we invite you to explore the opportunities in Assam. We have set up Assam Skill University, dedicated to skilling students and creating an employable workforce to suit the industry. We are ready for a steady supply of skilled manpower and providing a robust framework of assistance, incentives, and subsidies for those ready to invest in our state,” he explained.

Dr B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, additional chief secretary of Assam, informed that the state economy had doubled from $29 billion to $68 billion and set a goal to reach $130 billion by 2030. The state growth rate has surpassed the national average. Assam is also making an unprecedented Rs 1 lakh crore investment in mega infrastructure projects, which will transform the region into a vital economic hub, he said.

Principal secretary (IT) K. S. Gopinath Narayan, commissioner of industries & commerce Oinam S. Singh and FICCI co-chairman V.V. Rama Raju and others spoke on the occasion.
