Hyderabad: The sleuths of Special Operations Team (SOT) of Rachakonda police busted an adulterated milk racket after conducting two separate raids at two units in Bhongir.

The milk was adulterated using hydrogen peroxide and was sold to sweet shops in LB Nagar, Uppal, Malakpet and Dilsukhnagar, said Bhongir SOT Inspector D Praveen Babu on Thursday. He said Samala Sathi Reddy and K Raghu were caught on charges of selling milk, which was adulterated using hydrogen peroxide.

The Inspector further stated that the accused were purchasing milk powder, which is generally used for preparing baked food items and preparing milk laced with hydrogen peroxide as a preservative. The accused were indulging in adulteration of milk for the last few months.

Based on information, the police raided the two units at Mannevaripampu village and Kanumukkala village, both in erstwhile Nalgonda district. In all, the police seized 180 liters of adulterated milk, 700 ml hydrogen peroxide, 12 milk powder sachets and 400 ml acetic acid during the raids.
