Adilabad: Leaders of various Adivasi organisations in the Komaram Bheem Asifabad district have decided to form committees in their villages to oppose GO No. 49 on tiger corridor Tadoba Andhari and Kawal tiger reserves.
The development comes after the Adivasi held a round table meeting at Bejjur mandal headquarters and passed a resolution against GO 49 on Tuesday.
The meeting remained unanimous in condemnation of the GO on grounds that it will pose a threat to their very existence.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Soyam Chinnaiah, convenor of Adima Girijana Bhu Rakshana Porata Committee, said the GO will be used by the Forest department to evacuate people from villages as part of developing the Komaram Bheem Tiger Conservation Reserve.
Meanwhile, former Adilabad MP Soyam Bapurao has met Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, requesting him to take steps for cancellation of GO 49, which declares the tiger corridor between Tadoba Andhari and Kawal as a conservation reserve.
Soyam Bapu Rao said if the GO is passed, it will affect people of 339 villages.
Akhila Bharat Gondwana Mahasabha national vice-president Sidam Arju, who also met the Telangana Governor, opposed merging the Kagaznagar and Asifabad divisions into the tiger reserve.
