Adivasis Celebrate Navvong Puja to Mark Arrival of New Crops
Mesram Koserao of Salewada in Indravelli mandal said they celebrate the Navvong festival every year by offering the first harvest to their gods, goddesses, and ancestors.
Keslapur:Tribal communities of Mesram clan performed their traditional Navvong puja in honour of their Serpent God Nagoba at Indravelli in Adilabad district on Friday, coinciding with harvesting of their first samalu and pesarlu pulses crop.
As part of the ritual, Adivasi families cooked the prasadam of harvested pulses along with rice and offered it their traditional gods and goddesses. Subsequently, they had lunch in the assembly of their community members.

Offerings are also made to hills, birds, and animals as part of venerating nature.
Mesram Venkatrao, Nagoba Temple Peethadhipati, said they have been following the tradition of Navvong since times immemorial. The rituals have been passed on to their by their forefathers.
Significantly, not a single grain of food prepared is wasted on the occasion.
