Adivasi Teacher Invited for At-Home at Rashtrapati Bhavan on I-Day

Thodasam Kailash used AI to revive Kolami and Gondi songs, wins national praise

Adilabad: Adivasi government teacher Thodasam Kailash from Adilabad has received an invitation from the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, to attend an ‘At Home’ reception at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi on the occasion of Indian Independence Day on August 15. He currently serves as a teacher at a government school in Gourapur village, Indravelli mandal.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had praised Thodasam Kailash during his Mann Ki Baat address for using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create music tracks for Kolam songs, contributing to the preservation of the Kolami language for future generations.

Kailash also translated Balala Mahabharatam into the Gondi language under the title Pandokna Mahabharat Katha. He noted that he received the invitation from Rashtrapati Bhavan following the Prime Minister’s recognition of his efforts to preserve traditional tribal music through AI.

Kailash said he has received an overwhelmingly positive response from the Gonds and Kolams for the AI-generated music tracks accompanying his songs. He added that the recognition is a great honour for him as a member of the Thoti community, which is classified as a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG).
