Adivasi Leaders Vow to Fight for Jal, Jangal, Jameen Rights
Thudum Debba, Adivasi Sena and Adivasi Sankshema Parishath organised programmes and processions in Adilabad, Utnoor and Asifabad.
Adilabad:International Adivasi Day was observed across the erstwhile Adilabad district on Sunday, with Adivasi organisations and government officials highlighting tribal rights and welfare. Adivasi leaders took a pledge to fight for their rights over Jal, Jangal and Jameen.
Thudum Debba, Adivasi Sena and Adivasi Sankshema Parishath organised programmes and processions in Adilabad, Utnoor and Asifabad.
Former Adilabad MP and Raj Gond Seva Samiti state president Soyam Bapu Rao, speaking at a programme in Utnoor, urged forest officials to stop allegedly harassing Adivasis. He also appealed to former MP Godam Nagesh to take up the tribal land issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as it involved the Central government.
Khanapur MLA Vedma Bojju said the state government was committed to protecting the rights of Adivasis.
Thudum Debba state president Godam Ganesh said Adivasis continued to face hardship and humiliation despite 75 years of Independence. He urged the state and Central governments to take steps to protect their constitutional rights.
Collector Rajarshi Shah, superintendent of police Akhil Mahajan, ITDA project officer Manda Makarandu and Adivasi leaders attended the programme at Utnoor.
