Adilabad To Witness Intense Political Activity With The Beginning Of November
BRS and BJP plan major rallies in Adilabad and Nirmal as both parties seek to strengthen their grassroots presence ahead of future elections.
Adilabad district will be the stage for key political activities during November, with major parties planning a series of programmes during the month.
The first of them will be the Rythu Garjana organised by the opposition Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi in Adilabad town on Sunday, November 1.
Soon thereafter, Bharatiya Janata Party will organise a Maha Padayatra in Nirmal on Tuesday, November 3. The BJP programme is to counter the Congress and INDIA bloc campaign against the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
While BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) will play a dominant role at the Rythu Garjana, BJP national general secretary and Telangana in-charge Suneel Bansal will lead the party’s Maha Padayatra.
BJP floor leader in Telangana Assembly and Nirmal MLA Aleti Maheshwar Reddy said the party is expecting a large turnout from three assembly constituencies for the Maha Padayatra.
Significantly, both BRS and BJP are focusing on strengthening their grassroots in the erstwhile Adilabad district ahead of the next assembly general elections.
BRS seeks to rope in leaders from rival parties into its fold in assembly constituencies of Adilabad district, where it lacks a strong leadership. There are reports that some doctors and industrialists from Mudhole and Nirmal are interested in joining the BRS coinciding with the Rythu Garjana, party sources disclosed.
Former Adilabad DCC president Bhargav Deshpande is expected to formally join the BRS in the presence of K.T. Rama Rao at the Rythu Garjana. Incidentally, some sarpanches, MPTCs, ward councillors, Congress mandal-level leaders, and BJP leaders are likely to join the BRS under Deshpande's leadership during the garjana.
A senior Congress leader from Adilabad said the BRS and BJP are stepping up their political activities with the success of Congress campaign against BJP-led centre’s anti-people policies and the SIR involving Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The Congress leader said the BRS leadership is in a dilemma over the SIR and has not taken an active stand against it. Instead, the opposition party is planning to come into limelight by making allegations against Congress over the drought conditions in Telangana.
