Adequate Fertilizer Supply in Telangana; 9 Licenses Suspended: Nadda
28 show-cause notices were issued, nine licenses were cancelled or suspended, and three FIRs were registered in cases related to black marketing: Centre.
Hyderabad: The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has informed that the availability of fertilizers has remained adequate in Telangana during the ongoing Kharif 2026 season.
Further, in order to address the issues such as black-marketing and diversion, fertilizers are declared as an essential commodity under the Essential Commodities (EC) Act, 1955 and notified under Fertilizer Control Order, 1985. State Governments are empowered to take action against persons involved in said malpractices, as per provisions of EC Act.
Accordingly, as per the information received from Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (DA&FW), during the period from April to July 2026 (as on July 17), in cases related to the black-marketing of fertilizers in the State of Telangana, 28 show-cause notices were issued, nine licenses were cancelled or suspended, and three FIRs were registered.
In cases related to the diversion of fertilizers, three show-cause notices were issued, two licences were cancelled or suspended, and one FIR was registered. As per the information received from Telangana government, the following steps have been taken by the government to ensure the timely supply of Bharat brand fertilizers to farmers across the State, including Nizamabad, Jagtial and
other major agricultural districts:
Fertilizers were allocated by the Department of Fertilizers to the State based on seasonal demand assessed by the State government. Regular review meetings were held with fertilizer companies, railways and other stakeholders to monitor production, availability and movement of fertilizers.
Daily monitoring of fertilizer stocks, dispatches and sales is carried out through the State government. Bharat brand fertilizers were supplied through fertilizer companies and made available through the existing retail distribution network based on demand and availability.
Additional supplies are arranged, wherever required, to meet any localized increase in demand, including in major agricultural districts such as Nizamabad, Jagtial and other districts of Telangana.
As on July 21, 2026, there are a total 11529 retailers outlets equipped with PoS devices for sale of subsidized fertilizers under the fertilizer Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system in Telangana.
This was stated by the Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, J P Nadda while replying to a question raised by BJP MP Arvind Dharmapuri in Lok Sabha a few days ago on availability of fertilizers in Telangana.
