ACB Raids Jagtial Treasury Office, Nabs Senior Accountant Red-Handed Taking Bribe

ACB traps official taking Rs 7,000 bribe to release constable’s pension funds.

Karimnagar: Officials from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted surprise raids at the District Treasury Office in Jagtial on Friday and caught a senior accountant accepting bribes. The operation was triggered by a complaint from Pawan Kumar, a police constable stationed at Korutla Police Station, who reported that Arige Raghu Kumar, a senior accountant at the treasury office, demanded a bribe to process the deposit of Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) funds into his account.

According to ACB officials, Raghu Kumar allegedly requested Rs 7,000 to facilitate the transfer of CPS funds amounting to Rs 1,04,000. Despite repeated follow-up calls from the accountant pressing for the bribe, constable Kumar had informed him that the payment would be made on Friday while he was en route to his security duty at the Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Jayanti celebrations.

At the treasury office, as constable Kumar handed over the Rs 7,000 bribe, ACB DSP Ramanamurthy and his team executed a well-planned trap, catching Raghu Kumar red-handed.
