ACB Nabs Assistant Engineer Taking Rs 10,000 Bribe

The accused, S. Anil Kumar of the Jagtial sub-division, was arrested at his office by the Karimnagar ACB unit. He had demanded ₹10,000 from contractor Venkatesham of Korutla to prepare quality control inspection reports for three projects.

KARIMNAGAR: An assistant executive engineer in the Vigilance and Quality Control wing of the panchayat raj department was caught red-handed by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) accepting a bribe in Jagtial on Wednesday.

The accused, S. Anil Kumar of the Jagtial sub-division, was arrested at his office by the Karimnagar ACB unit. He had demanded ₹10,000 from contractor Venkatesham of Korutla to prepare quality control inspection reports for three projects.

According to ACB deputy superintendent of police P. Vijay Kumar, Anil Kumar accepted a ₹3,000 advance two days earlier and then demanded the remaining ₹7,000. He was apprehended while taking the second installment at his office.

Authorities recovered the bribe money from Anil Kumar, and a chemical test confirmed contact with the cash. He has been arrested and will be presented before the Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases in Karimnagar.

Deputy superintendent Kumar urged citizens to report any instances of bribery by public servants via the toll free number 1064 or through social media. He assured that the complainant’s identity will remain confidential.
