Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) seized unaccounted cash of Rs.2.40 lakh from the car of A. Srinivas, joint director of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB), during a surprise check in Hyderabad on Saturday evening.
According to a press release issued by the Telangana ACB on Sunday, officials received an anonymous call alleging that a senior HMWS&SB official from the board's Khairatabad office was carrying illegally collected cash while returning home.
Acting on the information, the ACB City Range team intercepted Srinivas's Maruti Swift car, bearing registration number TS08 GQ 3699, opposite Metro Residency Apartments on Raj Bhavan Road at around 7 pm on Saturday.
During the check, officials found Rs.2.40 lakh in unaccounted cash in the car. When questioned about the cash, Srinivas reportedly failed to provide a satisfactory explanation and gave inconsistent answers.
