ABVP Calls for Telangana College Bandh Tomorrow

The student organisation also alleged that several colleges are refusing to issue certificates to students until the pending fee reimbursement is paid.

Hyderabad: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has called for a statewide college bandh in Telangana on July 14 over the pending fee reimbursement dues.

According to ABVP, the government has failed to clear the pending fee reimbursement amounts, leaving eligible SC, ST, BC, and OBC students struggling to continue their higher education.

The student organisation also alleged that several colleges are refusing to issue certificates to students until the pending fee reimbursement is paid.

ABVP representatives said that nearly 20 lakh students in Telangana solely depend on the government's fee reimbursement and scholarship schemes to pursue higher education. They alleged that the delay in the release of funds has disrupted the education of many students from poor and middle-class families.

The organisation has demanded that the Telangana government immediately release the pending fee reimbursement dues, estimated at around Rs 11,000 crore, stating that doing so would benefit nearly 20 lakh students across the state.
