Nalgonda district collector justifies service break for 99 panchayat secretaries

Nalgonda: District Collector Ila Tripathi's decision to impose a service break on 99 panchayat secretaries for extended unauthorised absences for a year has stirred discussions among government employees. The issue gained traction after social media posts questioning the Collector's decision went viral.

In response, the collector issued a press release defending her action, stating that instead of suspending the employees as per standard disciplinary measures, the administration opted for a service break and reinstated them on humanitarian grounds. "Posting orders were issued to all 99 panchayat secretaries after the service break to allow them to resume their duties," she clarified.

Interestingly, none of the 99 affected secretaries publicly opposed the decision, and most have reportedly rejoined their assigned posts. The absences, ranging from four to 11 months, were attributed to preparations for competitive exams, including TGPSC.
