The accident took place in third block of the company when one of the reactors blown up leading to injury of nine laborers working in it.

Nalgonda: Boddu Balakrishna, 30, a worker at Nosch Labs Unit in Velminedu of Chityal mandal in Nalgonda district, allegedly died after a reactor explosion, police said on Friday. The blast was reportedly linked to suspected safety lapses. The case has been registered against the management of the pharmaceutical unit following the incident in Block-3 at around 11.45 am. Eight other workers were injured in the blast.

Balakrishna, a native of Chinna Kaparthy in Chityal mandal, was among those shifted to Apollo Hospital (DRDO branch) in Hyderabad, where he died during treatment. The injured are undergoing treatment.
Police said the reactor explosion triggered panic among workers in other blocks, who rushed out after hearing the blast and seeing thick smoke.
Labour unions alleged the management had been violating labour laws and neglecting worker safety. The incident comes within 10 days of a similar explosion at the same unit on April 20 that killed one worker and injured two others.
District collector B. Chandrasekhar and superintendent of police Sharath Chandra Pawar inspected the site and questioned the management.
Chandrasekhar said operations at the unit have been stopped with immediate effect and an inquiry will be ordered. Pawar said a case has been filed and an investigation is underway. Action will be taken if lapses in safety measures by the management are established, he added.
