9 Arrested For Killing And Transporting Blackbuck Meat

The police seized 13 kilograms of blackbuck meat, a licenced .315 rifle mounted with a telescopic sight and silencer, 19 live rounds, two torch lights, a camera with zoom lens, SUV and hatchback cars.

During the preliminary enquiry, it was revealed that the prime accused M. D. Haji Uddin, along with co-accused left Hyderabad during the intervening nights of September 26/27, reached Marikal forest area near Narayanpet in the wee hours and moved around the Marikal forest area from 7 am to 12 pm, during which Haji Uddin used his licensed firearm to hunt a blackbuck, Raghavendra said. Later the accused cut the blackbuck into pieces using knives and packed the meat.

While they were proceeding towards Hyderabad, their vehicles were intercepted during checking near Raikal toll plaza, Raghavendra disclosed. During subsequent enquiry, Haji Uddin disclosed that he and his friends had hunted and killed the blackbuck using his licensed firearm, DCP said.

The arrested have been identified as Haji Uddin (36), a realtor, Meer Mukhtar Ali (37), mechanic, both from Edi Bazar, M. D. Tajamul (37) a businessman from Charminar, Mir Raza Ali Khan (39), sign board businessman, resident of Ramachandrapuram, Sangareddy, Khurram Khan (35), software engineer, native of Sangareddy, Syed Salman Ali (30), MBA student, resident of Moghalpura, M. D. Afroz Khan (36), solar panel businessman, resident of Shastripuram, M. D. Abdul Aziz (33), mobile businessman from Charminar and M. D. Riyaz (28), mechanic, native of Utkoor, Mahabubnagar. Cases under various sections of Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, and Arms Act have been registered against the arrested.
