A large number of Maoist party members surrendered before the police for the first time in Telangana

Hyderabad: As many as 86 members belonging to banned CPI (Maoist) Party surrendered before the IGP Multi Zone –I S Chandrasekhar Reddy in Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Saturday. For the first time, a large number of Maoist party members surrendered before the police.

Of the 86 members, 20 were women cadres. The 86 Maoist cadres belong to various wings – four Area Committee Members (ACM), five party members, eight Revolutionary People's Committees (RPC), 27 RPC militia, 20 RPC Dandakaranya Adivasi Mazdoor Kisan Sangh and Krantikari Adivasi Mahila Sanghatan (DAKMS/KMS), 13 RPC Chaitanya Natya Mandali (CNM) and nine RPC Gram Raksha Dal (GRD) decided to leave the violence path of naxalism and lead a peaceful life with their family members.

Accordingly, they surrendered before the IGP Multi Zone –I Kothagudem district after knowing about the welfare measures being taken up for the surrendered Maoists and also development of welfare schemes fortribal (Adivasi) people, provided under “Operation Cheyutha” programme by Telangana Police department.

This year so far, 224 Maoists of various cadres – two Divisional Committee Member (DVCM), 10 ACM and Platform Party Committee Member (PPCM), 25 Party Members, 74 Militia Members, 23 RPC members, 41 DKMS/KMS members, 31 CNM Members, one and 17 GRD surrendered before these two districts.

They surrendered after getting attracted by various schemes and programs being conducted by the district police for the development and welfare of the migrant tribal (Adivasi) people living in the Maoist affected areas.

They decided to avail the benefits of the surrender policy of Telangana government and thereby availing benefits from the schemes provided by the government and to lead a peaceful life with their family members.

These Maoist members decided to take this step to join the stream after realizing that the banned CPI (Maoist) was now working on outdated ideology, and had lost all trust and support among the tribal people.

Recently, due to their misdeeds, a tribal woman from Rampur village under the Usur police station limits lost her leg and another tribal woman from Sodipara village died. Maoists obstruct the development of the agency areas and terrorize innocent tribal people believing that Maoists will not survive if the agency areas are developed.

“The Telangana police department appealed to cadres who want to surrender and lead a peaceful life to contact their nearest police stations or district higher officials, either through their family members or in person,” Reddy said while addressing a press conference on Saturday.

The district police administration will always ensure that all kinds of benefits, available for the livelihood and rehabilitation of the surrendered cadres will be provided immediately and the top cadres and leaders of Maoists from Telangana origin will be provided extra benefits in terms of money etc, for their better settlement in society.
