8 Members of Chain-Snatching Gang Arrested

Nalgonda:Palvancha police on Friday arrested eight members of an alleged chain-snatching gang in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district and recovered six gold chains weighing 150 grams and three motorcycles, with the total property valued at Rs 26 lakh.
The arrested were identified as Sunnam Nagendra Babu alias Nagendra, Valluri Shantharaj alias Raju, Uke Bhadram alias Veerabhadram, Bethe Kartheek, Ura Lingaiah, Bethe Adilakshmi, Kalluri Lavanya and Allam Saramma. Another alleged gang member, Thammishetti Bala Veeraswamy, was absconding.

The gang allegedly committed 10 chain-snatching offences within the limits of Dammapeta, Burgampadu, Palvancha Rural, Tekupally, Komararam, Julurupadu and Chundrugonda police stations.
Police identified Sunnam Nagendra Babu, a native of Userlagudem in Aswaraopeta mandal, as the alleged kingpin. He reportedly formed the gang with persons he came to know while in jail. He was accused in 83 property offences in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, police said.
