Hyderabad:Seventy-eight young Aapada Mitra volunteers completed a week-long disaster management training organised by HYDRAA under the National Disaster Management Authority scheme.
On Tuesday, HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath handed over certificates to the volunteers, who were selected from Giriraju Government Degree College, Nizamabad district.

The programme combined classroom sessions with field exposure. Volunteers visited Gulzar Houz in Charminar, where a major accident had claimed 17 lives, and the meteorological department to learn weather data interpretation. Practical demonstrations included flood rescue using boats, first aid, and prevention of household accidents at Bathukamma Kunta. A briefing on disaster monitoring was also conducted at the integrated command and control centre.
