TG SAFE Drugs Wing seized 6,368 Tramadol capsules from a Tellapur medical shop for allegedly stocking and selling the prescription drug without proper records.

The TG SAFE Drugs Wing seized 6,368 capsules containing Tramadol from a medical shop at Tellapur in Sangareddy district for allegedly stocking and selling the prescription drug without proper records.

Officials raided Sri Ganesh Medical and General Stores at Tellapur village in Ramachandrapuram mandal based on information about the illegal sale of Pyeevon Spas Plus capsules containing Tramadol.

The officials found that the capsules were stocked without purchase bills and sold without issuing sale bills, in violation of the Drugs Rules, 1945. The seized capsules were valued at `58,904.

Tramadol is an opioid analgesic used for the management of moderate to severe pain and is classified as a Schedule H1 drug. Such medicines are required to be sold against a valid prescription from a registered medical practitioner.

The raid was conducted by assistant director Patancheru P. Ramu, drugs inspector M. Chandrasekhar and Sangareddy drugs inspector N. Ravikiran Reddy.

Officials said further investigation would be conducted and action taken under the law against those involved. The Drugs Wing said illegal diversion and sale of Schedule H1 and other prescription medicines without valid prescriptions would attract action under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
