ADILABAD: The Telangana government on Thursday issued licences to 62 Mahila Shakti Rythu Seva Centres in Jangaon district to sell fertilisers, pesticides and seeds to farmers.

District collector Sandeep Kumar Jha distributed ePOS machines to the centres for transactions and monitoring of stock, distribution and pricing.

Officials said this was the first time that such a large number of licences had been issued to fertiliser outlets run by self-help groups in the state.

Addressing the programme, the collector directed officials to strengthen systems to deliver multiple services to farmers through the Mahila Shakti Rythu Seva Centres.

He said members of the centres would be trained by agriculture extension officers at Rythu Vedikas to provide services at a single point.
