KARIMNAGAR: A 50-year-old resident has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Posco) Act for allegedly attempting to sexually assault an eight-year-old girl in Akbarnagar of Antargaon mandal in Peddapalli district.
Police said the incident, which occurred on Friday, came to light two days later after the victim informed her mother about the ordeal.
“The accused, Ilyas, lured the minor to his residence under the pretext of playing with his daughter. Ilyas called the girl’s mother who is related to him and convinced her to send the child over. Being alone in the house at that time, the accused attempted to assault the girl,” the police said.
Police said, “The girl ran back to her home. Later, she developed fever and exhibited signs of extreme trauma. Upon questioning by her mother, she revealed the details. The family immediately lodged a complaint at the Antargaon police station.”
The accused was facing several other allegations of a similar nature in the locality, police added.
