5 TPCC Committees Formed, EC Kept On Hold

Committees include Political Affairs, Advisory, Delimitation, Samvidhan Bachao, and Discipline

Hyderabad: The Congress high command on Thursday constituted five important committees under the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC). All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary (organisation) K.C. Venugopal issued orders to this effect late in the evening. Surprisingly, the party did not announce the new TPCC executive committee, including appointments of vice presidents — an omission that has drawn attention.

The newly formed committees are the Political Affairs Committee, Advisory Committee, Delimitation Committee, Samvidhan Bachao Programme Committee and the Disciplinary Action Committee.

The Political Affairs Committee (PAC) has 22 members, including AICC Telangana incharge Meenakshi Natarajan, TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, C. Damodar Rajanarsimha, D. Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Seethakka.

Other members include Challa Vamshi Chand Reddy, MPs G. Renuka Chowdhury and Porika Balaram Naik, government advisor Mohd Ali Shabbir, Mohammad Azharuddin, MLAs Aadi Srinivas, Vakiti Srihari Mudiraj, Beeral Illiah, P. Sudarshan Reddy, K. Premsagar Rao, Jetti Kusum Kumar and Eravathri Anil Kumar.

Interestingly, all five MLAs included in the PAC are believed to be lobbying for Cabinet berths ahead of the expected cabinet expansion. The AICC ensured representation from BCs, SCs, STs, minorities and general categories in the PAC. Ex-officio members include all AICC secretaries attached to Telangana, all AICC secretaries from the state, TPCC working presidents and heads of frontal organisations. All state Cabinet ministers will serve as special invitees.

For the first time, the AICC has constituted an Advisory Committee comprising 15 senior leaders, intended to serve as a bridge between the party and the state government. Members include Meenakshi Natarajan, A. Revanth Reddy, B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, V. Hanumantha Rao, K. Jana Reddy, K. Keshava Rao, Madhu Yashki Goud, G. Chinna Reddy, J. Geetha Reddy, M. Anjan Kumar Yadav, T. Jayaprakash Reddy, Jaffar Javed, T. Jeevan Reddy, Siricilla Rajaiah and S. Ramulu Naik.

Another first is the formation of a Delimitation Committee to monitor and influence the upcoming constituency reorganisation process expected before the 2029 Lok Sabha polls. This seven-member panel includes Challa Vamshi Chand Reddy, GHMC mayor Gadwala Vijayalakshmi, MLAs Aadi Srinivas and Kavvampally Satyanarayana, Dr Sravan Kumar Reddy, Pavan Malladi and D. Venkatramana.

The Samvidhan Bachao Programme Committee, which is also a first, will plan and oversee agitation programmes against the BJP-led Union government’s alleged attempts to alter the Constitution. It will also promote public awareness and protect the ideals of the Constitution drafted by Dr B.R. Ambedkar.

The 16-member Samvidhan Bachao Committee comprises P. Vinay Kumar, MLC Addanki Dayakar, MLA K. Shankaraiah, Arkala Narsa Reddy, Athram Suguna, Rachamalla Siddeshwar, Santosh Kolkonda, Dr Puli Anil Kumar, Juluri Dhanalakshmi, Majid Khan, Dr G. Ramulu, Arjun Rao, Souri, Kollam Vallabh Reddy and Venmam Srikanth Reddy.

The Disciplinary Action Committee is chaired by MP Dr Mallu Ravi, with A. Shyam Mohan as vice chairman. Other members include M. Niranjan Reddy, B. Kamalakar Rao, Zaffer Javed and G. V. Ramakrishna.

Meanwhile, a meeting convened by the Congress high command on May 30 in Delhi to finalise the new TPCC executive committee and discuss cabinet expansion has reportedly been postponed. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud and other senior leaders were expected to travel to Delhi on Friday morning but have deferred their trip following the postponement. It remains unclear when the meeting will now take place.
