NIZAMABAD: Five youths were rescued from the Sirnapally check dam near Sirnapally village in Dharpally mandal after getting stranded in rising floodwaters on Saturday night.
The group had gone to the check dam for sightseeing but became trapped when the water level suddenly rose. They climbed onto a rock in the middle of the water and raised an alarm. Other youths nearby alerted villagers in Sirnapally, prompting a rescue operation.
Police rushed to the spot and initially tried to rescue the group using tractors, but the effort was unsuccessful. Eventually, the youths were safely rescued with the help of ropes.
Officials noted that the sudden increase in water flow had significantly raised water levels at the check dam. Authorities have since issued a warning, advising people not to visit the area due to safety concerns.( Source : Deccan Chronicle )
