5 Lactating Women Fall Ill After C-Sections in Banswada MCHC
Hospital authorities shifted three of the affected women to Nims, Hyderabad, for further treatment.
Karimnagar:Five lactating women reported ill-health after undergoing caesarean sections at the Mother and Child Health Centre (MCHC) in Banswada of Kamareddy district.
According to hospital sources, 10 caesarean operations were performed on July 10 and 11. One woman developed breathing difficulty on the night of July 10 and was shifted to a hospital in Nizamabad. Of the five surgeries conducted on July 11, one patient, Laxmipriya, developed health complications in the evening, with a decline in white blood cell count. Similar symptoms were reported in three more lactating women on July 12.

Authorities halted surgeries at the centre on Monday and inspected the operation theatre. Samples of medicines were sent for testing.
Swabs were collected from the operation theatre walls, equipment and surgical clothing used by doctors, and sent to a microbiology laboratory for analysis.
