41% Voters to Go Missing in Hyderabad District
Nearly 19.41 lakh electors listed as absent, shifted, duplicate or dead

Hyderabad: Names of nearly 41 per cent of the existing 43.76 lakh voters across 15 Assembly constituencies in Hyderabad district will be missing from the draft electoral rolls to be published on August 17.
These electors have been included in the Absentee, Shifted, Duplicate and Dead (ASDS) category as they were absent during the enumeration process, had shifted elsewhere or had died. Another 99,264 entries have been identified as duplicates.
In Hyderabad district, Jubilee Hills has the highest number of ASDD electors at 1.79 lakh, followed by Yakutpura with 1.54 lakh and Chandrayangutta with 1.48 lakh.
According to Hyderabad Election Authority data, these three Assembly constituencies also recorded the highest number of shifted electors. Jubilee Hills accounted for 1.48 lakh shifted electors, followed by Yakutpura with 1.03 lakh and Chandrayangutta with 91,910.
Verification found that the shifted category in the ASD list also included electors who wanted to vote in their hometowns and did not participate in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 exercise. They neither filled and submitted voter enumeration forms nor contacted Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
In Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency, for instance, there are people from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and other parts of the state. Several people from economically weaker sections feared that they would lose government schemes in their hometowns.
“I want my vote in my home town in Karnataka. My priority is the ongoing schemes including free ration,” said a watchman of an apartment in Karmika Nagar, Yousufguda. Middle-income families and others from different districts of Telangana also wanted to vote in their hometowns instead of Hyderabad.
Presently, out of 47.36 lakh electors, forms of 27.95 lakh electors, or 59.01 per cent, have been digitised, while the remaining forms will also be digitised.
