40 Year Old Tree Relocated At Begumpet

Begumpet traffic inspector G. Janaki Ramulu, RSI Ashok Reddy and traffic police personnel coordinated the operation: Reports

HYDERABAD: In a move aimed at easing traffic while preserving greenery, a nearly 40‑year‑old Peltophorum tree near Shyamlal junction in Begumpet was successfully relocated as part of junction development and traffic management measures. Traffic officials identified the tree, located under Begumpet traffic police station limits, as an obstruction to vehicular movement at the busy junction. The relocation was supervised by Traffic DCP‑I Rahul Reddy and additional DCP Shakeer Hussain.

Begumpet traffic inspector G. Janaki Ramulu, RSI Ashok Reddy and traffic police personnel coordinated the operation in association with the Forest Department and GHMC’s urban biodiversity division. After obtaining necessary permissions, officials shifted the tree to the Begumpet cemetery premises. Its branches were scientifically pruned before relocation to ensure safe transportation and improve survival chances.

Officials said the transplantation would ease congestion and improve commuter safety at the junction, while also protecting the city’s green cover. Continuous monitoring and maintenance measures will be undertaken to help the tree adapt to its new environment.
