40-Year-Old Man Beaten To Death Over Mobile Phone Theft
The attackers had severely beaten Ramanujam with sticks: Reports
MEDAK: A 40-year-old man was beaten to death on the allegation of a stolen mobile phone. The incident occurred in Mannevari Jalalpur village in Veldurthi mandal on Tuesday midnight. The deceased is identified as Begari Ramanujam, 40, of Mannevari Jalalpur.
According to sources, immersion of Ganesh idols was conducted in Mannevari Jalalpur village on Tuesday. The celebration continued till late night, and one Gundeni Praveen had lost his mobile phone. He suspected Begari Ramanujam might have stolen his mobile phone and attacked him along with family members and others.
The attackers had severely beaten Ramanujam with sticks. Reportedly, the victim pleaded with the attackers and revealed he did not steal his mobile phone. The villagers tried to shift injured Ramanujam to the hospital, but attackers did not allow them. As a result, the victim died in Mannevari Jalalpur village. Police rushed to the village and shifted the dead body to the government hospital in Toopran.
CI B. Venkata Raja Goud monitored the situation in Mannevari Jalalpur village to prevent retaliatory attacks. Meanwhile, 8 attackers surrendered to the police. CI said that they registered a case on a complaint lodged by the deceased’s wife. “We are enquiring about the case to identify the suspects in the murder case,” he explained. A tense situation prevailed in the village over the death of a man over mobile phone theft charge.
