4 Old City Junctions to Get Thematic Makeovers
Hyderabad’s Old City junctions to get cultural makeover with art, fountains, and themed sculptures

Hyderabad: Four major junctions in Hyderabad’s Old City will soon undergo thematic beautification, featuring artistic sculptures and fountains. As part of the junction improvement project, each location will be adorned with theme-based art installations and illuminated fountains. The initiative includes sculptures made of short fibre-reinforced polymer, each designed to reflect distinct cultural or natural themes.
At the junction near DMRL Cross Road near Owaisi Hospital, a massive horse sculpture will be installed along with a jet fountain and pond. The sculpture will stand eight feet tall, while the fountain will be illuminated at night to enhance its visual appeal.
Underneath the APJ Abdul Kalam Flyover at Chandrayangutta, 12 animal and bird sculptures will be placed along with artistic waterfalls. Notable installations include a 10-foot elephant, six-foot rhinoceros, four-foot bear and leopard and sculptures of a lion, tiger, monkey, deer, crane and Indian Roller bird. The fountain at this site will be 20 feet tall and five feet wide.
At Puranapul junction, sculptures depicting pearls and shells will be installed alongside a water fountain reflecting the city’s historical association with pearls. Aramghar junction will feature an agriculture-themed layout with sculptures of an ox, bullock cart and farmer. Swan and crane sculptures will also be part of the installation. Officials said these works aim to create visually engaging public spaces that reflect Hyderabad’s culture, history and biodiversity.
