38,000 RTC Employees Get 11% Pay Revision, Union Polls Likely in August
Union representatives said job security and retirement benefits for employees who retired over the past nine years remain key demands.

Hyderabad: Around 38,000 employees of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) received an 11 per cent pay revision on Wednesday, with salaries credited following the implementation of the PRC, addressing one of the 32 demands raised during earlier strikes.
The development comes ahead of union elections, with the state labour commissionerate issuing the first notification to recognised unions.
Sources said the elections are likely to be held in August. At present, 43 unions are registered and have been asked to attend a meeting convened by the joint labour commissioner on July 11, where scrutiny will be carried out before finalising the eligible unions. The last elections were held in 2015, when about 12 unions participated.
Unions are divided over the delay in conducting the elections. Telangana Mazdoor Union leader M. Thomas Reddy said, “The delay in holding union elections has led to the retirement of several eligible employees. On June 30 alone, 390 employees retired, and another batch is set to retire by the end of this month.”
He added, “The RTC should declare July 2 as the appointment day, which would extend employees’ retirement age from 60 to 61 years.”
